  1. After nearly two years of searching, World Globe Universe is pleased to announce the availability of a personal Celestial Sphere to fill the void left by the discontinuance of the Starship Earth II Celestial Sphere. With the closure of Spherical Concepts in May of 2011, the popular 16 inch Starship Earth II Celestial Sphere soon sold out. For nearly 20 months, we have been unable to offer anything beyond a handful of 30 inch models of the Starship Earth II.

    In response to ongoing demand from customers, World Globe Universe has added the model 310, Basic Celestial Globe to our line of Space/Celestial Globes. We have been watching this product for the last 23 months and when the production was recently returned to the United States, we decided to pick it up and make it available to our customers.

    Although this Celstial Globe is smaller and less feature rich than the Starship Earth II Celestial Sphere, the 12 inch Basic Celestial Globe is currently the best personal Celestial Sphere available, and we are pleased to offer it for immediate sale.   2. Turtle Tech Design Inc., manufacturer of the MOVA Globe, has changed their branding. During the first six weeks of 2013, Turtle Tech Design Inc., has been working to roll out the new company name unde which MOVA Globes will be sold and supported. Effective today, Turtle Tech Design Inc., announced the new DBA is MOVA International. Although the corporate name will not change, it is hoped the new MOVA International brand will better reflect the MOVA Globe product offering and the international availability of the fascinating MOVA Globes.

    MOVA International will continue to market through their established dealers in the North American market, even as they actively seek to expand their distribution in the European and Asian markets.

  3. Our monthly newsletter has been published for four months now and our fifth issue will be sent within the next few days. In looking back at the first few issues, and reviewing the issue that is in development, we are pleased with the quality of the content that is being created. As we consider the information being presented in our monthly newsletter, we have decided that it would be an unfortunate waste if it were not made available to every globe enthusiast who visits World Globe Universe.
     
    With these considerations in mind, we have decided to create an archive of the content from past issues of our newsletter.   5. Since its successful landing on August 6th, the news has been full of stories about the Curiosity Lander and its mission on Mars. World Globe Universe is excited to participate in this exploratory mission. To aid scientists and interested observers of all ages, we have added the new Mars globe to our growing collection of space and celestial globes.   6. On June 20, 2012, World Globe Universe purchased all of the Artline inventory remaining from the closure of Spherical Concepts Inc. The inventory is valued at approximately $60,000 and will be offered to INI Online Stores customers through WorldGlobeU.com. The acrylic world globes and star spheres are available on a first come first served basis. Once this inventory is gone, these products will be relegated forever to the pages of history.
  7. At World Globe Universe, we love world globes and are excited to interact with globe enthusiasts who share our passion! As we have considered the various opportunities for communicating with our customers, as well as other globe enthusiasts, we have decided that a monthly newsletter would be a great way to provide more detailed information and stories than we typically write in our blog.

    Today we sent our first newsletter to visitors and customers who have signed up over the past few years. While we regret that it has taken us so long to take the plunge and finally get our first issue on its way, we are really excited to have taken this first big step into a new means of communicating.

More than 4 months after Replogle Globes completed the move of their manufacturing facilities to Indianapolis, our World Globe Universe customers continue to be affected by processing delays on Replogle Globe orders. In spite of their ongoing efforts to rebuild their inventory levels, Replogle continues to experience product shortages which result in shipping delays. Replogle continues to quote a 3 to 4 week lead time on all globe orders.

    We continue to monitor this situation and to work closely with Replogle Globes. At this time it is not clear if Replogle will be able to build up their inventory reserves prior to the start of the 2011 holiday shopping season.

    As a precautionary measure; we urge our World Globe Universe customers who are considering giving a Replogle Globe as a gift, to place your order well in advance so you can assure delivery before Christmas. At the present time we are recommending a minimum of 8 weeks before Christmas.

  10. On June 24th, Herff Jones Inc., announced its intention to close the George F Cram globe division, including all of its manufacturing operations. Closure of the George F Cram division is scheduled for January 1, 2012.

    How does this action affect you, our World Globe Universe customer? The announced closure will result in the discontinuance of all Cram globe products. In addition, as Cram has been the North American distributor of Stellanova Globe products, the future availability of Stellanova Globes in the North American market is unknown.

  11. Our World Globe Universe customers continue to be affected by processing delays on Replogle Globe orders. In spite of their ongoing efforts to return to pre move inventory levels, Replogle Globes continues to experience inventory shortages on many of their products. Replogle is currently quoting a 3 to 4 week lead time on all globe orders. Our experience is somewhat better on in stock items, with products typically shipping within 10 days to 2 weeks. Unfortunately, many Replogle Globes continue to be out of stock and are subject to the 3 to 4 week lead time for production and shipping.

    Special order items, such as globe upgrades and replacement parts are currently experiencing a 4 to 8 week lead time for production and shipping.

    We continue to work closely with Replogle Globes and hope the inventory shortages will be alleviated by midsummer.

  12. On May 26, 2011, Herff Jones announced the closure of the Spherical Concepts Division and the discontinuance of the Artline Brand. The closure is effective May 31, 2011.

    With less than 1 week notice to the Spherical Concepts dealers, Herff Jones closed down the Spherical Concepts Division which they acquired in 2007. The remaining inventory from Spherical Concepts was turned over to the Cram Globe Division at Herff Jones where the inventory is being sold on a first come first served basis.

    How does this action affect you, our World Globe Universe customer? The bottom line is, there is a limited number of Artline Globes left in inventory at the Cram Globe Division and in our own warehouse. As the inventory is exhausted the products will be pulled from our active sales pages and placed in the discontinued products archive.

  13. Replogle Globes, a division of Herff Jones Inc., announced today that they have completed the transfer and installation of their production equipment at their new Indianapolis location and that they have resumed production at their new facility.

    At the moment, inventory availability continues to be below optimal levels but Replogle hopes to remedy this situation over the upcoming weeks.

    How does this action affect you, our World Globe Universe customer? The move of Replogle's manufacturing operations has taken longer than originally anticipated and product availability continues to be an issue. At the current time, Replogle orders are taking from 2 to 4 weeks to ship as opposed to the 3 to 5 day processing that was typical before the move. We will continue to monitor this situation and will provide updates as Replogle resolves their production issues.

  14. On March 25, 2011, Herff Jones announced the relocation of the Replogle Globes manufacturing and production equipment from their Broadview, Illinois location to the Herff Jones’ facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.

    How does this action affect you, our World Globe Universe customer? The announced manufacturing relocation is expected to delay shipment of Replogle Globe orders by as much as two weeks. Replogle anticipates being back in operation at their new location within two weeks and hope to restore inventory to pre move levels within a few weeks after full production resumes.
